- Immersed in Worship- We live to worship God every day and everywhere.
- Loving Communities- We must proclaim the life-changing message of the Gospel of Christ and build community friendship programs that will help our beneficiaries to become productive and responsible members of the community and will help our members to be personally engaged in the community (Romans 13:1-14)
- Valuing Volunteerism- We volunteer our time, talents, and resources for the Glory of God.
- Optimizing Resources- As a church and as a 501c3 charitable organization, we must be exemplary in how we conduct and use the resources given to the church and must conduct its operations and programs in such a way as to minimize waste and maximize efficiency, effectiveness, savings, recycling, and reuse. (2 Thessalonians 3:6-15; Proverbs 21:20)
- Persistent Praying- We must completely rely and wait on God's leading in everything (I Thessalonians 5:17)
- Strengthening Families- We believe in serving God as a family and will provide opportunities and resources for building and maintaining strong families (Joshua 24:15)
OUR HUMBLE BEGINNING
For several years, Rene Abella had been faithfully leading a Friday Bible Study Group in Antioch, TN which was attended by Filipinos, their American spouses and families. Attendees at the bible study went to different churches in Tennessee every Sunday, so the vision to have a church for Filipino- Americans where they could congregate, worship, and fellowship together came about.
It was in June of 2015 when Rene Abella invited a core group of men, who had been a part of the bible study group, to share the need and the vision of having a Filipino-American Church in Nashville, Tennessee.
The core group of men involved in the formation of the Filipino American Church were Rene Abella, Jonathan Quiton, Amando (Andy) Fidel Sr. , David Ferrel, Pastor Mark, and Stephen Klausner.
From July until October 2015, this core group of men, their wives and other volunteers had been meeting almost every week to draft the Filipino American Church’s statement of faith, constitution, and by-laws.
After the first full draft of the constitution and by-laws was completed, the name “Filipino - American Bible Church” was considered and later became the church’s official name.
The first Sunday service of the Filipino-American Bible Church (FABC) was held at the residence of Timothy and Lydia Graser in Antioch, TN on November 15, 2015. It was held at Rene and Violeta Abella's residence the following Sunday. On November 29, 2015, FABC moved its Sunday service to Lighthouse Christian School Cafeteria at Blue Hole Road in Antioch, TN. It was through Pastor Al Henson, founder of Lighthouse Ministries (now Lighthouse Christian Fellowship) that this move was made possible. Pastor Al Henson shared the same vision with Rene Abella before, to have a Filipino American church. He is the overseer of FABC at present.
FABC held services at the Lighthouse Christian School Cafeteria from November 29, 2015, until December 31, 2017. On January 7, 2018, FABC moved to its new home at the Lighthouse Christian School Auditorium, just across the street from the cafeteria.
The church launched a building fund project from May 2017 to December 2017 so that it could purchase land and build its own church. At present, FABC is searching for the perfect location for its own building. FABC is a 501c tax-exempt organization.
Although the name of the church is Filipino-American Bible Church, it is not exclusive to Filipino-Americans only. The goal of the church is to be able to reach as many people as possible regardless of race, nationality, or status in life so they will be able to know Christ and learn about HIM.
FABC has about more than 50 attendees every Sunday on average. It is slowly growing in number, and all of its board of directors, staff, and members are volunteers. These people devote their time to the church without any monetary gains.
